Let us introduce ourselves...
It all began when a few university students, who were making a short film movie came in contact with Terry Dougas, a Greek Hollywood producer. After careful consideration and having a clear strategy plan, Terry Dougas with the help of Sotiris Polizos, Stauros Nakos, Katerina Apostolaki and these univercity students, the Argo Film Festival began to take shape in the unique city of Volos, Greece, his hometown.
It is a Youth Festival that differs from the others, as semi-professional film makers as well as non-professional are able to compete in this Festival. It is a platform on which young people are able to show their work, their ideas and concerns, which does not only benefit themselves but also the viewers. The festival's goals are to motivate young, talented and eager people from all over the world to “speak up” and express themselves via the power of film and surface in the filming industry.
The short and full length films were projected in the historic building of cine Axillion, on Friday the 27th and Saturday the 28th of August 2010. The center of Volos was dressed with red carpet and lit with several spot lights in order to welcome several accompliced people in the Arts and Politics and the young people that participated in the Festival with their movie. Moreover, the Argo Film Festival held the Pan-Hellenic Premier of the Spanish documentary “The sins of my father”, the confessions of Pablo Escobar's only son, Sebestian Marrocin, who changed his name in order to avoid social persecution after the death of his father and the corruption he inflicted to the Columbian government with his drug money.
The Argo Film Festival calls upon young and talented people worldwide to participate with their movie, drawing possible ideas and scenarios from history, the environment, social issues, funny stories and so on. In other words, just be yourself and keep the camera rolling!
Named after the legendary ship Argo in Greek mythology. The Argo was the ship on which Jason and the Argonauts sailed from Iolcus to retrieve the Golden Fleece from a far away land.
